Commercial Auto Insurance

Your business doesn’t stop at your front door

Autos owned by businesses, just like personal cars, need to carry some kind of insurance. Laws vary in most states, but even without regulation the risk of losing your business because of an accident just isn’t worth it. That’s where Commercial Car Insurance comes in.

What Does Commercial Auto Insurance Cover?

Commercial Auto policies for the most part cover the same types of risks as auto policies – Collision and Comprehensive coverage for damage done to the vehicle; Bodily Injury Liability and Medical Payments coverage for injuries suffered by the various people involved in an accident; Underinsured/Uninsured motorist coverage to pay your damages when the at-fault party can’t cover the costs; and Property Damage Liability to cover damage done to someone else’s property in an accident involving your company’s vehicle.

Commercial policies also generally include Rental Car Liability Coverage, which comes in handy if you or your employees travel for work, and Non-Owned Auto Insurance to protect you if an employee gets into an accident when using their own car for company errands. Commuting to and from work in your own car still falls under personal auto insurance, however.

Aside from only covering vehicles during business activities, Commercial Auto policies’ main difference from personal car insurance policies is simply that they tend to be more comprehensive, and have higher coverage limits.
